Birds of a feather, laugh together.

The guys of Push Comedy Theater had a clear vision of the bird they wanted. Aside from being proud as a peacock, they had a laundry list of famous characters they wanted to combine. With a dash of Donald Duck, Popeye, and Foghorn Leghorn, a new star mascot was born: Johnson, the cock of the walk.

With his chest puffed out and anchor tattoo, he embodies the old archetype of honorable manliness. That being said, he is full on “Donald Ducking” it without pants. As a final, subtle comedic detail, it’s no coincidence his name is Johnson and he only has one eye.

Coordinating a community and no-budget marketing.

With all the proceeds being donated to the YWCA, The Pushers wanted to maximize their donation by minimizing their overhead. Favors were called in for news coverage and radio shout-outs, but Facebook is where the cast and Push Comedy Theater community coordinated to spread word of the event.

Profiles were equipped with a round Johnson crest and cover image that included all the event information. The Push Comedy Theater’s community of over 400 people all changed their profile photo and cover image as well as shared the Facebook event. While this event competed with other St. Patrick Day celebrations, the NORVA boasted a near-sell out event.
